Why we’re building this
Most eye care only sees a moment.
Eye care happens at intervals. An eye test gives us an important picture at one point in time, while everyday life continues in between through screens, air conditioning, contact lenses, travel, sleep and changing routines.
The Founding 500 is designed to help us understand more of what happens in between. Five hundred people, twelve months and real-world observations of how eyes change over time.

Frequently Asked Questions
Does it cost anything to join?
No. There is no cost to join the Founding 500.
Will Awaken products be free?
Products such as eye drops, wipes, masks and other everyday eye-care products may be sold separately when they become available. We’ll always make any costs clear before you choose to buy.
How long does the programme last?
The Founding 500 runs for twelve months from the point you begin.
What if I miss a day or stop using Awaken for a while?
That’s okay. Real life is part of what we want to understand. We simply ask you to be honest about missed days rather than trying to fill in the gaps later.
Do I need to use Awaken products to take part?
Not necessarily from day one. As products and routines become available, we may invite you to use them as part of the programme and will explain what is involved before you take part.
Do I need the Awaken app?
Yes, once the relevant app features become available. We’ll let you know when and how to get started.
What happens to the information I share?
Your information will be used to help us understand how eyes change over time and to improve Awaken. We’ll explain clearly how your data is collected, stored and used before you begin.
Will I receive medical advice or a diagnosis?
No. The Founding 500 is designed to help us build and improve Awaken’s everyday eye-care experience. It is not a replacement for professional eye care.
What happens after the twelve months?
Your Founding Member status and number remain yours. We’ll also let you know about future Awaken products, features and programmes you may want to take part in.
What happens if all 500 places are taken?
You can still register your interest. We’ll let you know if more places become available or when future Awaken programmes open.
Can I leave the programme early?
Yes. You can stop taking part at any time. We’d appreciate your feedback before you leave, but participation is always voluntary.
